“Each thing once, only once. Once and no more. And us, too, we also once, even just once..
(R.M. Rilke, “Duino Elegies”)

“We have been at the beginning”, (tr. but also “Yes, at the beginning I love”) playing a perverse game of expectations. I tried to eat a banana, but it didn’t work…I am not a monkey. So we said to ourselves “let’s go on” (tr. but also “I love on”) and we got lost deep in the cave, experiencing happiness. But we missed the meaning. We got lost outside ourselves, we danced on our own borders, we expanded, dilated, touched, withdrew, we tried to stay as long as possible in that intensity, then we escaped somewhere else…now we are worn out, we need to protect ourselves. You steal my soul… again it’s a matter of freedom but I want to be enough for myself, cultivate the sense of distance, learn how to enjoy doing as I like with myself. Is “Let’s leave everything (tr. but also I love everything)” a paradox? The emptiness that allows fullness? The pause before the breath? In the end the same questions remain: What do you give me of you… How do I want myself, and what do I know of you? And you? How are you? Are you happy? How far do you move away from yourself to feel yourself? Who are you fighting against today?

(lasci)AMO TUTTO (tr: “I leave everything” but also “I love everything”) is after (si)AMO ALL’INIZIO (tr: “We are at the beginning”, but also “Yes, at the beginning I love”) and (andi)AMO AVANTI (tr: “We go on” but also “I love on”) , the third attempt of the project GIVE ME MONEY GIVE ME SEX, give me coffee and cigarettes_?

TANK-TALK
(a project for a collective urban action)

video performance

from Friday 23rd to Saturday 31st July
Ponte di Controllo

Someone stopped a convoy of tanks with his small, dance-like steps, climbed onto the tank and looked for a crack in its armour, tried to talk to the driver. He sought the man behind the machine. Anyway…

Revolt.

Words are being consumed, counterfeited, forged, like concepts. They lose and change their semantic value. Thus talking about revolt (in this way) opens up spaces and possibilities for new interpretations. Turn around, twist, take new roads or interfere on those which have been, at least in appearance, already defined.
Which space defines the term revolt today? What does revolt mean for us, what makes it distinct? (what does it not mean any more)? Perhaps, nowadays, a revolt is an individual act, a personal enquiry. The intimacy of sustaining a certain position (becoming conscious), an attempt a dialogue or a quarrel with the world, with a tank which moves forward…

And then, having captured attention, what to say?

We re-start from here. A performer, dressed like the man of Tien'anmen Square, will try to stop things and people following their own routes; he will try to repeat the same steps that allowed a man in 1989 to stop a line of tanks; he will try to have a human exchange, a dialogue; he will try again to say something, to be listened, to whisper or to scream something in someone’s ear.
