Pathosformel began in Venice in 2004 mixing elements coming from different disciplines, with the purpose of prioritising the elements that build up a performance: the work on the body and images, handicraft solutions and techniques, the relationship with space and materials, one does not take precedence over the other. Building and dissolving the form to reconsider each time the birth of an image that still retains a human taste.

The performance La timidezza delle ossa was presented at Premio Scenario 2007 and obtained the special mention «for the many potentialities of an invention that hides the scene to let the viewer work with imagination. An expressive elastic and inviolable medium that separates and absorbs the action, revealing – also metaphorically – the skeleton; telling about a fight that joins the corporeal and incorporeal and revealing itself as an ancestral place of the conflict between perception and illusion, in a crescendo of tension wisely orchestred on a score of common sounds with primordial resonances».
In May 2007, during a residence in Centrale Fies in Dro, pathosformel created Volta. The work presents black bodies in a black space: the bodies can be perceived only for the parts covered by a thin coat of white wax. The organic material’s decomposition fragments the body living to the viewer the task of recomposing a human image in its progressing loss of visibility. Volta made it’s debut in avant-première by the festivals Operaestate in Bassano del Grappa and drodesera FIES 2007.

The two performances, although independent, represent a double reflection about the presence of a body fighting with its own support of visibility: two anatomic studies on the need to investigate and reconstruct the image of a body escaped to the discontent of its presence on scene.
Both works – usually presented separately – have been performed as a diptych at Teatro Comandini in Cesena in February 2008, at the end of the residency and production project Sezione Autonoma organised by Socìetas Raffaello Sanzio and the region Emilia Romagna.
